Support creates bias
People close to you may avoid being too direct. That makes their feedback emotionally useful but weaker as product evidence.
Independent feedback asks different questions
- Would a stranger understand this?
- Would they complete the core task?
- Would they return without being reminded?
- Would they care if the product disappeared?
Give people a real task
Do not ask strangers to react to an abstract idea. Ask them to use the product and report what happened.
